Stress and its effect on reflux

I am convinced that stress is a major player in acid reflux. And anything you can do to reduce you stress levels will help alleviate your reflux symptoms. So avoid stress as much as you can.The electronic devices above are expensive but they do work and the benefical effects on your health if you use them on a regular basis will pay for themselves a thousands times over. Stress can show its face in a numbers of different ways but one thing about stress is that it builds up over time. You know the way you start your week all relaxed and by friday your heartburn is getting worse. Try keeping a diary on your condition and try to recognize times of when you feel better or worse .I know we all have to work and its hard to eliminate the pressures when its part of your job. So the way to cope with this is introduce some relaxing techniques into your daily routine. Try meditating for 10 minutes a day for a start. When people mention meditating you immediately think of some one sitting in robes on top of a mountain or in a monastery but this is not the case at all. You dont need to sit with your legs crossed or in any awkward positions. And you dont need to lie down which isnt great for the reflux anyway. All you have to do is sit in a comfortable chair in a quiet room and just watch your breathing and focus on the air going in through your nose and out through your mouth and just slow it down very gradually. Now your mind will wander of your breathing now and then but dont worry about it and dont get annoyed about it. just focus back to your breathing or even count to 5 breathing in and count to 8 breathing out this will help distract your mind from everyday worries and after a few mins you will feel the difference as you start to relax. Set the alarm to wake you in case you are afraid of falling alsleep. you can do meditate for as long or as short as you like but I find at least 10 minutes gives best results. Have a soak in the hot tub for 30 mins in the middle of the week this helps recharge you. Switch off your phone for a while if its important they will ring you back. Swimming is great for digestive stress. Acupuncture once a week for a while. Start your day with a 20 minute walk 3 times a week keep that body moving you will feel better I promise you. Exercise helps keep the digestive system functioning correctly.
